Canning Jar
Show us what you have grown in your garden or wished you had canned for the winter.
Canning Jar - Finished size 8" x 10" (8-1/2" x-10 1/2" with seam allowances)
Background - Black Fabric
Cut 1 strip of black fabric WOF 1 3/4 inches
Then cut into pieces: 8-1/2, 7-1/4, 3, and 2 inches (2 of each size)
Jar Top - Gray - 1-3/4" x 3-1/2" (Gray fabric to resemble the old fashioned canning jars)
Contents - Cut one 6-1/2" x 7-1/4" of print of contents of the jar (Print to resemble the contents of the jar)
Mark the contents piece 1 3/8" from the top. Mark the 2" piece across the diagonal, in mirror image. Place the diagonal line from the mark to the top of the contents and sew the diagonal line (make sure that when the piece is folded up it will form a square corner.
Then sew the 7-1/4" piece to the sides.
Sew the 3" piece to the short side of the grey fabric, and then attach to the top of the "jar", centering the gray on top of the "jar".
Trim the ends if necessary. Then attach the top and bottom pieces.
Trim the square to size if you wish, or leave it for the winner to size.
