June Challenge - Floral Blocks

Our June Challenge will be floral blocks for next year's opportunity quilt. Please make them in 2" increments, like 2 x 2 4 x 4, 6 x 6, etc.  You can make them in a rectangle if you like, by 2".... 6 X8, 10 x 12...   And add the 1/2" seam allowance to your blocks.  Several people have asked if larger sizes were ok.  Yes, we will try to fit them into a quilt.  If there are blocks left over, they will be made into small quilts for the sale.  Please, when you make your blocks, keep in mind this quilt will probably be used and washed.  So make you blocks accordingly!   If you have used a pattern, we would like to give credit to the pattern maker.   Finally, please sign your block. Members will vote for viewer's choice and there will be several prizes. Contact Patty Ashworth with any questions.

 

April Challenge - Hot Stuff

The Warm Company has donated 18" squares of their new fire retardant batting. We will be doing a small quilt challenge, with the quilts to be donated to the small quilt sale at the quilt show. Since the batting is fire retardant the theme is to show off "hot stuff". It's up to you to decide how you will interpret the theme. Some possibilities might include: chili peppers, fire, a good looking guy, a hot cup of coffee, a day at the beach, etc. The challenge is due at the April meeting.
