Mary has updated the mid-19th century penny-rug style of embroidered wool applique with a new look. Discover the visual warmth of wool, the appeal of embroidery, the charm of buttons, and the pizzazz of beads through a comprehensive visual discussion covering numerous construction approaches and edging treatments. Students learn 'bead applique' techniques as they collage a traditional, folk art, or contemporary wall quilt or table topper. Using the less costly, readily available, wool blend felt (or 100% felted wool). Work by hand, machine or a combination . . . it's your choice. Recreate one of Mary's samples or let her help you design your own.
Handwork - machines optional but welcome, all skill levels, no beading experience needed.
